Just a quick note…we got in last night, that was Monday, so long ago it seems. Finish set up tomorrow and a public and private preview from 5pm – 10pm then on with the regular festival.

Good morning or afternoon. I hope your Sunday was more uneventful than mine! Barb and I got stuck in Laramie (earliest snowfall in 24 years, lucky us) when the roads closed and decided to stay another day till it warmed up to two digits. Seeing the 30 – 40 accidents in Denver sealed the deal. Anyhoo…we made it to Amarillo, Texas today and will beat it all the way to Houston tomorrow. Never so happy to see sunshine in my life.

Will try and remember to take pictures for those of you who have never been to Quilt Festival, it’s a first for me too. Have a wonderful week. I may post before Friday with fun stuff to share.

P.S. If you were expecting something by way of Fed Ex and the box was wet, crushed and dirty, I’m sorry we didn’t stop on the icy road and pick it up from the huge pile of boxes but we just, well, didn’ want to. Semis sliding around is something not to get in the middle of.

I wish I’d found more of these word cards. Some pieces come easily and I know right away what to do, this is one of them. Should have taken the picture with the frame, it was the same cream as the card with a thin black line around it.

Good morning. Thank you all who stopped by the booth in Portland with your excitement and kind words. It meant a lot to me. Truly.

I’ve a pile of paperwork to wade through and fabric to order (I hope) before getting on with the business of preparing for Houston Festival. What I’d really like to do though is play with the stack of vintage looking blues and Japanese blacks I got at Momma Made It. Work before play ya know. Have a wonderful week.

More from my obsession with log cabins. It’s a pattern I don’t think I’ll ever grow tired of. There are two reasons for this: there are so many variations and it’s the only finished 1/4″ that’s always fun. (1/4″ squares and half square triangles have to be spread out over time, too many at once is not a good thing for my brain)

And one more for good measure.

These little bowties, at 1″ were simple to construct. In fact as easy as a 4-patch. The tiny center squares on point…are paper. For some reason the paper scallop edge on the left reminds me of a fish tale. That’s one funny looking square fish.

Hello.  Buggy Barn was a fun show (as always) and I have some really neat finds to share with you on Friday. But for today, here are a few pieces created with leftover bits of linen burlap. They were done right after the journals…can you see the influence?

Both gone to good homes  this weekend. And then Becky stopped by and shared her Market Tote! (Thanks Becky for letting me post this!)

Here’s a close up of the button crest, everyone’s is so different. I love that. That’s a buckle in the center, the way she sewed it on (black thread) adds to the design.

Hello all.

Last week I recreated a few journals…wasn’t happy with what I had done before. They’re inspired by a Rebecca Sowers post. There were also some linen burlap scraps to be used up, add 2 textural fabrics, a Dresden, a few buttons and, of course, words. Voila! The papers inside are thick with no lines so these could be small scrapbooks, collage journals or regular writing journal.
