This piece started with the wonderfully distressed but happy frame.  All the miniature quilt blocks are machine pieced, not on paper but the old fashioned way, cut out the shapes and sew ’em together.  They are handquilted to create antique texture. Included are pieces of an old ruler, a vintage optometrist lens, metal buttons and various old papers.  Initially I was going to have the bride with her new husband but as I was oh so carefully cutting her out I followed her dress line up the right side.  This eliminated the guy, oh well, she looks good by herself.  The delicate lace across the bottom is beautiful and the mother of pearl buttons finish it off nicely. You can’t see it but the words throughout the piece are:  “From a woman’s soul, through a womans eyes, by a womans hands”  I love that saying!
